A note from Pastor Jason Purdy

*Update*

*UPDATE 5/16/2020*

First Baptist Church Livingston plans to reopen for Sunday morning service beginning Sunday, May 17 while following the governor's guidelines for Phase 1.

The church foyer, bathrooms, sanctuary, and overflow rooms will be cleaned prior to the service.

We will open the front doors ten minutes before service begins in order for you to be escorted to your seat by a Risk Management team member.

Please practice social distancing in the parking lot and the building.

We will not pass out bulletins or pass the offering plate. The offering plates will be available on a table as you are dismissed from the service.

For the health and safety of others, please plan to wear a mask while in the building. We will have some available for those who do not have one to bring.

The Risk Management team members will assist everyone in maintaining social distancing and providing instruction and direction for our church family as we begin our return.

We will also continue to offer the service online for all those who need to continue to worship from home for the time being. We completely support all who choose not to return to service at this time in light of health or other concerns.

6pm Sunday evening service and 6:30pm Wednesday evening service will still be on Facebook Live for the time being.

In order to comply with the 25% capacity guideline, we will fill the sanctuary to 75 people. We have the fellowship hall and one Sunday school classroom prepared as overflow rooms with video and audio. Thank you to those who have offered in advance to serve others by sitting in overflow if we exceed 75.

There will be no children's church, nursery, or Sunday school at this time.

We look forward to seeing some of you on Sunday. We are praying for everyone as we will all experience a mix of emotions from excitement in returning, missing those who cannot attend yet, and having to do a lot of things to have service that we have never done before. May we all prepare our hearts to celebrate Christ.

Update - COVID-19

Hello FBC Livingston Family!

Our local church association, ELBA, met yesterday and provided counsel and suggestions on how local churches can respond to the COVID-19 (coronavirus) situation. I have spoken with our deacons, children’s ministry, and nursery leaders as well as the head of our Risk Management Team. At this time, we must cancel all of our face to face gatherings. We will not meet at the church for Sunday morning, Sunday evening, or Wednesday evening services until further notice. We will also postpone tomorrow night’s business meeting until further notice.

Instead, beginning tomorrow evening, we will meet on Facebook Live through the FBC Livingston profile page during our regularly scheduled service times. Please meet with us for Wednesday night Bible study/prayer meeting at 6:30pm on Facebook Live. Sunday morning service will begin on Facebook Live at 10:45am. Sunday evening service will begin on Facebook Live at 6:00pm. The Sunday morning service will be broadcast from the church building and will include our worship team leading music as well as me leading and preaching as usual. The Wednesday evening and Sunday evening services will be broadcast from my home and will just be me.

I would like to ask for your help in communication to our members and regular attenders. All written announcements will be posted to both the FBC Facebook page and the home page of our church website, yet I am concerned about communicating with those members who are not online. I would like to ask the Sunday School Teachers to please reach out to their classes to make them aware of this announcement.

I would like to also provide my cell phone number: (910) 416-4340. We want to be the church in the midst of this time, so please let me know if you need any kind of assistance, whether that be someone to run an errand for you, sharing a prayer concern, a need for pastoral care, or needing clarification on an announcement, etc.

If you or someone you know in the church cannot access Facebook live but would like to receive Sunday morning messages, they can go to the website when it posts on Mondays. We can also make them a CD and bring it to them upon request.

Please plan to join us tomorrow night at 6:30pm for Bible Study/Prayer on Facebook Live. I will provide more information then. Remember, if you cannot come on live with us, the video stays on the church page to view later.

Let’s pray, abide in Christ, and be the church in the midst of this time! Love to all!

For His Glory,

Pastor Jason

COVID-19

Hey FBC Livingston family! As concerns surrounding the coronavirus (COVID-19) are at the forefront of much focus this week, I wanted to share a few things.

As we meet for Sunday School and service this Sunday, let’s refrain from our usual handshakes and acknowledge everyone verbally and with a wave. This is a simple step we can take to be healthy and show love to one another.

I am also going to hold off on doing a quarterly communion which we would usually do in March.

If you are feeling under the weather or running fever, the best way you can show love to others is by staying home. Please join us for the live service at 10:45am from our Facebook page if you do decide to stay home.

God is good and in control of all things! To God be the glory!
