Jesus Loved and Died to Save Sinners - 4/10/2022

Date:4/10/22

Speaker: Pastor Brian Gunter

Jesus Lived and Died to Save Sinners – 2 Corinthians 5:21

“For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.”

  1. Jesus is a sinless Savior. Only He is able to pay for our sins, because He is the only sinless person who ever lived.
    Hebrews 4:15 – “For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin.”
  2. The Father punished Jesus for our sins. When Jesus was upon the cross, He suffered the full penalty for our sins that we would have experienced in eternal Hell.
            Isaiah 53:10-11
10    Yet it was the will of the Lord to crush him;
he has put him to grief;
      when his soul makes an offering for guilt,
he shall see his offspring; he shall prolong his days;
      the will of the Lord shall prosper in his hand.
11    Out of the anguish of his soul he shall see and be satisfied;
      by his knowledge shall the righteous one, my servant,
make many to be accounted righteous,
and he shall bear their iniquities.
 3. Because Jesus lived and died to save sinners, those who repent of their sins and believe in Christ are made righteous. When we are born again, the guilt of our sin is removed, and we are covered in the righteousness of Christ.
2 Corinthians 5:17 – “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.”
