Paul has shown us the awe-inspiring humility in the gospel. He then fleshed out two ways to live it out in real life: by applying the gospel to every aspect of life and by shining our gospel light in the midst of the darkness. Paul takes one more step to practically flesh this out by giving us three models of gospel living: Paul, Timothy, and Epaphroditus.
Last week, God through Paul called us to an awe-inspiring humility through gazing on the beauty of the gospel. It is a wonderful message for Sunday, but how does it flesh out in life Monday through Saturday? What does it mean to live out the gospel in real life? We will explore three ways Paul answers that question this Sunday morning.
There is only one way to believe that humility is a virtue worth pursuing. We must gaze at the humiliation of Jesus and stand in awe of the glorification of Jesus that is all tied up in the gospel. Sunday morning, we will explore Paul's command to consider others more valuable than ourselves and how to find the power in the gospel to live in such a counter cultural way.
We have completed the first chapter in our Philippians series! This Sunday, we will turn to Acts and explore how God started the church in Philippi by being introduced to the first three members. They are not who we would naturally expect, which teaches us that the gospel is for anybody and everybody, no matter what. October 22, 2017 AM
